In his
sixth year as Director of
Choral Music and Associate Professor of Music at the University of Rio
Grande, David Lawrence conducts the Masterworks Chorale and the
Grande Chorale. He also teaches Aural Training, Conducting,
and courses in Music Education. He serves as the Ohio Collegiate Music
Educators Association advisor for the Rio Grande chapter and as chair
of the School of Fine Arts.
Dr.
Lawrence earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree
in vocal performance from
Abilene Christian University, a Master of
Music degree in choral conducting from the
University of Washington
and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from
Louisiana State University. He has taught junior/senior high
school and college/university choral music in Washington, Louisiana,
Nebraska and Texas. He also served as tenor soloist and assistant
conductor of the Pacific Northwest Chamber Chorus in Seattle. He is
active as an adjudicator and clinician and is a member of the
Music
Educators National Conference and the
American Choral Directors
Association.
